mFisheries is a project, primarily funded by the International Development Research Centre, IDRC, under the umbrella of the Caribbean ICT Research Programme. The project is being executed by the Communication Systems Group in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of the West Indies.
Over a 2-year period, November 2009 - October 2011, mFisheries is developing capacity in the Caribbean to pursue opportunities arising from the provision of innovative mobile-enabled services for its poor communities, and providing related empirical data and analysis to inform Caribbean policy and regulation. mFisheries focusses its attention on the small scale fisheries industry in the Caribbean, with particular emphasis on Trinidad and Tobago.
