  1. Is "The Caribbean Innovators Challenge: Mobile Applications for Development" limited to Caribbean participants or is it International?
    The Caribbean Innovators Challenge: Mobile Applications for Development is limited to Caribbean participants.  This competition seeks to promote development-focused mobile innovation and build related capacity in Caribbean Tertiary Level Institutions, to achieve the objective of capacity building in the Caribbean.

  2. Must participants of "The Caribbean Innovators Challenge: Mobile Applications for Development" be affiliated with a Caribbean Tertiary Level Institution?
    Yes, all participants must be affiliated with a Caribbean Tertiary Level Institution because this competition seeks to promote the development of young software developers, associated with Tertiary Level Institutions (TLIs).

  3. Are the age requirements for CICMAD proposals strict?
    Yes.  The competition is geared towards young innovators therefore we would like to stay within the age limit identified which is 35 years or younger on November 1, 2011.  However, we encourage faculty members to support and/or advise young developers interested in applying towards The Caribbean Innovators Challenge: Mobile Applications for Development.

  4. Are groups or teams allowed to register and participate in CICMAD?
    Yes, teams are allowed to participate in CICMAD.  However, please note that while Teams will be allowed to participate in the CICMAD they must meet the following criteria:
    • One (1) person must be named as the project lead/ representative and will be responsible for liaising with the CICMAD Organizing Committee on behalf of his/her team.  As stated in the eligibility clause, this person must be “35 years of age or younger on November 1st 2011 and must be a software developer involved in teaching and/or innovation at a Tertiary Level Institution in the Caribbean.”  Applicants who are academics, research or project students, academic support staff such as teaching and research assistants all qualify.
    • All members of the team must be identified along with their names and contributory roles in the submission.  The team is responsible for its internal organization and management.
    • Prize Distribution: The CICMAD does not offer a ‘team’ prize or ‘team’ cash award.  The division and distribution of the prize money among team members will be the responsibility of the team members.
